I've earned my disillusionment so I have a hard time going for the soft focus and the fantasy; I need something real that I can think and say and see. I don't like my language watered down or my edges rounded off; I was born a lion, why bother trying to act tame? It's no surprise that, when people look at me, they see my purpose, they see my pride. They think I just saddle up my anger and ride, ride, ride... They think I stand so firm; they think I sit so high on my trusty steed. They think I am stronger, they think I walk taller than the rest. They think I'm usually wearing the pants just 'cause I rarely wear a dress, well... Squint your eyes and look closer, I'm not between you and your ambition. Just because I do up in your face what other people do behind your back, doesn't mean I'm trying to give my life meaning by demeaning you. Yet it seems that every time I say something people find hard to hear, they chalk it up to my anger and never to their own fear. Well, I'm not trying to hurt anyone; I'm just telling my own truth. So if you think there's something wrong, then maybe there's something wrong with you. I guess I have to accept that everything I do is judged and people mostly get it wrong. But luckily the bathroom mirror has not budged and the woman who lives there can still tell the truth from the stuff that they say. On the other hand, some people say: "Thank you for saying all the things I never do." Yeah, well... it's nice that you listen but it'd be nicer if you joined in. Because so far, all the thanks I get is to take all the shit for you. I need some backup... I know I can't be the only "whatever-I-am" in the room... And frankly, I'm tired of being so fierce and I'm tired of being so friendly. Tell you what, you don't have to like me for who I am... but I will see what you're made of by what you make of me.
